Jan Ekleberry had a fascination with art at a very young age. She attended The Hacienda Art Gallery for formal training. There she was taught in oils, and painted mostly detailed landscapes and some portraits.
In early 2000 she decided to take her art more seriously and enrolled in a school in Scottsdale Arizona owned by Lu Bellamak. Lu had several offerings, but Jan was most interested in learning how to paint looser and larger with more feeling from the soul.
Jan moved to Kauai, and works in a small studio in her home, she is always looking for new combinations and mediums to express herself in, and now works mostly with Yupo, a synthetic paper using acrylics and inks, that keeps her paint pigments at their highest levels.
Jan also works with fellow artist and husband, Steve Hashi on his artistic project, Overboard Art Kaua'i.
Jan helps inspire Steve, with color and content for his work in stained glass mosaic surfboard art and working showers (a must see).
Inspired and tenacious, we see Jan’s work becoming a fresh look here in Kauai.
